Bank holidays known from Tue, 1 Jan 2019 to Tue, 26 Dec 2028.

How this works

Working days leave out Saturdays, Sundays, Christmas Day, Good Friday and that nation's bank holidays.

Construction Act days follow HGCRA 1996 s.116. Only Christmas Day, Good Friday and bank holidays are left out — weekends count.

The count starts the day after the start date, and the end date is included. Taking away days counts backwards the same way.

FAQs

What's the difference between working days and Construction Act days?

Working days leave out weekends and bank holidays. Construction Act days only leave out Christmas Day, Good Friday and bank holidays — Saturdays and Sundays still count (HGCRA s.116).

Does the count include the start date?

No. Like the Construction Act, the count starts the day after the start date. The end date is included.

Are bank holidays different in Scotland and Northern Ireland?

Yes. Scotland has 2 January and St Andrew's Day, but no Easter Monday. Northern Ireland has St Patrick's Day (17 March) and the Battle of the Boyne (12 July).

Where do the bank holidays come from?

The official gov.uk bank holidays list, refreshed daily.
